You will join a self-managing team of business controllers. In this role, you will be responsible for one or more business units and report directly to the CFO. Functionally, you will collaborate with the business unit director. You will also be part of a finance team of around 15 colleagues. The company fosters an open and supportive culture where you can always rely on the expertise of experienced team members. While the team works hard, there’s also room for social connection — for example, a weekly office get-together to wrap up the workweek.
Assignment
As a Business Controller, you will act as a strategic sparring partner for management and the business. With your analytical mindset, helicopter view, and strong financial insights, you help steer the organisation toward growth, profitability, and long-term success. You translate financial data into clear, actionable advice, identify opportunities and risks, and proactively contribute ideas for process and performance improvements. You take ownership of your analyses and recommendations and work closely with colleagues across different departments, playing a key role in building a healthy and future-focused organisation.
- Preparing and monitoring forecasts, budgets, and KPIs
- Analyzing financial performance of the business units and providing both solicited and unsolicited advice to management
- Monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting on revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, cash flow, order intake, and time registration
- Creating and maintaining rolling forecasts and the corresponding action plans
- Taking the lead in process improvements and efficiency optimizations within internal reporting
- Providing financial support during tender processes and investment decisions
- Optimizing administrative processes within the business units
- Using AFAS, BI tools, and Excel to generate and present data-driven insights
- Working closely with the CFO, business directors, and the shared service center to ensure financial results are not only visible but also drive strategic decisions
Profile
- At least 5 years of experience in a financial role (Business Controller, Financial Controller, Consultant, etc.)
- A completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Economics, Accountancy, or Finance
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to clearly communicate complex financial data
- Experience with AFAS, BI tools, and Excel (you’re confident with advanced analysis and dashboards)
- Strong presentation and communication skills — you can effectively convey messages to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset — you spot opportunities and take initiative
- Flexibility to switch between operational and strategic tasks
