Position
The Manager Operations Control leads the Operations Control Team and acts as the strategic finance business partner to Manufacturing (six plants), Supply Chain and the central functions. The successful candidate ensures effective future steering of the organisation and oversees planning, budgeting and Capex/lease control. The role also acts as a sparring partner to management.
In addition, the Manager Operations Control focuses on process optimisation, ensures SOX compliance and provides consistent, reliable financial information to Accounting. The role reports to the Head of Business Control.
- Define the vision, positioning and ways of working for Operations Control as a strategic finance business partner to Manufacturing, Supply Chain and central functions;
- Ensure consistent application of forward-looking steering and performance management across all plants;
- Challenge plant management, Supply Chain and central functions on performance, assumptions and improvement agendas;
- Prioritise and escalate material risks and opportunities to the Head of Business Control and Director Finance & IT;
- Represent Operations Control in management meetings;
- Lead the budgeting, forecasting and three-year planning process for operations, Capex and SG&A;
- Establish guidelines, frameworks and planning principles for Operations Control;
- Review and challenge consolidations, scenarios and outcomes at management level;
- Escalate deviations, risks and uncertainties to Business Control and Finance leadership;
- Lead, coach and develop the Operations Control team;
- Define clear roles, responsibilities and ways of working within the team;
- Govern the Capex and lease control framework, including investment and decision-making processes;
- Take final responsibility for the quality and consistency of investment and lease proposals;
- Monitor Capex and lease-related spend, commitments and the realisation of business case assumptions;
- Identify and implement improvements in Operations Control processes;
- Standardise and harmonise ways of working across plants;
- Improve the efficiency, quality and predictability of analyses and reporting;
- Ensure the design and execution of internal controls and SOX controls.
Profile
- Academic degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Economics;
- Minimum of 7–10 years of relevant experience in finance or controlling, preferably within a manufacturing or FMCG environment, including some leadership experience;
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is considered a strong advantage;
- Proven experience in finance business partnering, Capex and overhead control, planning and forecasting;
- Experience with SOX compliance is an advantage;
- Extensive experience with ERP and financial systems, reporting and analytical tools; experience with SAP (S/4HANA) is preferred;
- Strong knowledge of business partnering, budgeting, forecasting and planning;
- Good understanding of accounting principles (NL GAAP, IFRS), Capex and leases, internal controls and operational KPIs;
- Ability to translate financial and operational data into management insights and decision-making support;
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships;
- Analytical, structured and capable of connecting insights across functions;
- Resilient and able to prioritise effectively in a fast-changing environment;
- Pragmatic, results-driven and continuously focused on improvement.
