The organization is backed by private equity and follows a clear buy & build strategy. Current revenues are approximately €10 million. The headquarters, including the warehouse and Dutch operational activities, are located in Amsterdam. The rest of the team, including most of the senior management, work remotely across Europe. Despite the international setting, there is daily communication, and collaboration is efficient and productive. This position also offers the possibility of hybrid working.
Assignment
As Interim Finance Manager, you will report to the Board of Directors and be responsible for both the strategic development and day-to-day leadership of the organization. You will be a key sparring partner to the CEO and the Board, contributing directly to the company’s further growth.
- Direct responsibility for accounting, finance, tax (including VAT), financial compliance, forecasting, strategic planning, and commercial analysis;
- Execution and monitoring of the sustainability strategy, including translating it into your department and supporting team members in achieving their sustainability KPIs;
- Financial and commercial leadership, including cash flow management, financial planning, internal and external reporting, asset management, and risk control;
- Analyzing financial strengths and weaknesses and advising on corrective actions.
Profile
The ideal candidate is an experienced finance manager with a background in a fast-paced, digitally driven Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) e-commerce environment. You have a strategic vision but are also capable of hands-on involvement and solving operational challenges.
We are looking for a team player with strong leadership skills who can effectively manage teams both on-site and remotely. You are a sharp analytical thinker, proactive in sharing ideas and knowledge, and have extensive experience in a private equity-backed scale-up or a similar environment.
- Relevant education and qualifications in accounting and financial management;
- Experience in setting up and optimizing financial systems and controls;
- Strong expertise in financial reporting (including monthly P&L, cash flows, 3/6-month forecasts);
- Experience in implementing a new accounting system;
- Experience in enforcing strict financial controls, including inventory management;
- E-commerce experience is a plus;
- Experience with cost reduction and efficiency projects;
- Experience with PE structures and/or turnaround situations (preferred but not required);
- International experience, particularly with cross-border VAT and transfer pricing.
