Assignment
We are looking for an entrepreneurial and versatile Finance Director for our client — someone who not only contributes strategically but also takes a hands-on approach. You will be actively involved in the day-to-day financial operations, with a strong foundation in financial accounting and controlling, and are used to being in control of the details.
As Finance Director, you will be directly responsible for financial administration, reporting, and cash flow management, while also providing insights into financial performance and contributing to identifying growth opportunities and optimizations.
You are independent and proactive, not someone who merely gives direction, but someone who actively contributes and lays a solid financial foundation. With a hands-on mentality, you ensure the financial organization operates efficiently and is future-ready.
- Lead, coach, and motivate the finance department and local accounting teams;
- Initiate budgeting and forecasting processes;
- Oversee monthly and annual closing processes and prepare management and financial reports for both internal stakeholders and external parties such as shareholders and financiers;
- Contribute to strategy, processes, automation, and systems;
- Take initiative in preparing analyses and reports that improve performance and pricing strategy;
- Provide business insights through KPI’s and translate financial data into actionable business intelligence;
- Responsible for financing, capital structure, and the relationship with the bank;
- Take a leading role in audit processes;
- Manage cash flow;
- Share responsibility for negotiating (pricing) agreements with suppliers, customers, etc.;
- Act as the CEO’s right hand and a trusted business partner;
- Propose and implement improvements in administrative processes, internal controls, and IT infrastructure;
- Play an active role in improvement projects and initiatives, ensuring consistency and alignment across efforts.
Profile
- Completed HBO/WO (Bachelor’s/Master’s) education in Business Economics, Business Administration, or Accountancy, preferably supplemented with a postdoctoral RA (Chartered Accountant) or RC (Certified Controller) qualification;
- Proactive, entrepreneurial, and professional;
- Extensive experience as a senior financial executive, including developing and improving financial reports, budgets, and forecasts;
- Experience in an international manufacturing environment (familiar with topics such as working capital management and factoring, commodity and raw material procurement, pricing and margin management, international supply chains, and currency risk);
- Affinity with financial IT systems, insurance, taxes, and pensions;
- Strong hands-on experience and knowledge of both accounting and controlling;
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills. Attention to detail while being able to distinguish between main and minor issues;
- Extensive experience with financial analysis, preparing business cases, and investment proposals;
- Down-to-earth, no-nonsense, and pragmatic. Maintains oversight, takes initiative, but also knows when to ask for help;
- Critical, solution-oriented, decisive, and analytical. Able to quickly understand complex situations and influence or mobilize others;
- Experience working with private equity is a plus, as is experience with acquisition processes and post-merger integration;
- Strong command of both Dutch and English, spoken and written.
