Our client is a mid-sized and ambitious retail organisation. Recently acquired by an entrepreneurial private equity firm, the company aims to grow both organically and through a buy & build strategy.
Position
The CFO is part of the management team and leads the Finance & Control team.
Everything starts with the fundamentals, which must be in place before moving on to anything else. You are hands-on with a strong foundation in financial accounting, but also able to think strategically as a business partner regarding opportunities and risks.
You are an independent and connecting team player, capable of strengthening the internal organisation and making it future-proof.
- Further professionalising the Finance department;
- Setting up a reporting structure, both internally and for external stakeholders;
- Managing the month-end and year-end closing processes, and preparing management and financial reports;
- Playing an active role in acquisitions, including business case preparation, due diligence, negotiations, deal closing, and post-transaction integration;
- Contributing to strategic thinking around processes, automation, and systems;
- Taking initiative in creating analyses and reports that support improved performance and pricing strategy;
- Being responsible for financing, capital position, and bank relationships;
- Leading external audit processes;
- Managing cash flow;
- Co-responsible for (price) agreements with suppliers, health insurers, and similar partners;
- Acting as the CEO’s right hand and a trusted business partner.
Profile
- Completed academic education in business economics, business administration, or accountancy, preferably supplemented with a post-master RA/RC qualification;
- Proactive, entrepreneurial, and professional;
- Experience working with private equity is a plus, as is experience with acquisition processes and post-merger integration;
- Extensive experience in a senior financial leadership role, including preparing and improving financial reporting, budgets, and forecasts;
- Experience in a retail or trading environment;
- Strong hands-on experience and knowledge of both accounting and controlling;
- Highly analytical and capable of conceptual thinking. Detail-oriented, yet able to distinguish between main and minor issues;
- Broad experience in financial analysis, developing business cases, and investment proposals;
- Down-to-earth, no-nonsense, and pragmatic. Has an overview, takes initiative, and knows when to ask for help;
- Quick thinker, humble, and above all, a strong team player.
